FotometerPro App Reviews

does not play nice with 3GS phones

It indeed is critically flawed on the 3GS. Even though the support page says that "incident" mode is clearly intended for the front camera on the iPhone4, the developer should have assured that choosing that mode on a 3GS wouldnt render the app inoperative like it does. The only way to get the app to work again after that happens is to delete it and reinstall it on the phone. Junk, in my opinion.

Cant get it to work (ver1.1)

I can not get this app to work on my iPod touch 4th generation. The app gives an opening screen then crashes. I deleted app and reloaded it, but got the same results...CRASH! So far, this purchase is a waste. Buy with caution.

Not for iPod touch 4

Crashes instantly every time.

Nice but needs minor update

Retro GUI is awesome! Very accurate but can use some minor tweaks. ISO moves when trying to adjust aperture. Since ISO is not changed frequently in film photography, dial should move to another location. Otherwise, perfect.

Works, but extremely slow

It works, looks nice, but the UI is unbearably slow, even on a brand new iPhone 4S. Is this supposed to be a useful tool or a pretty, laggy toy?

Wonderful

Classic retro styling with a meter that functions nearly flawlessly on my iPhone 4. Works brilliant with my rolleiflex. Thanks!

Convenient, Relatively Accurate Meter

The reflected metering is accurate when compared with a Sekonic L308S and Canon 40D in center-weighted mode. In incident mode, the metering sometimes over-exposed by a half-stop compared to the Sekonic. The aperture and ISO dials are close to each other and require a bit of care to avoid unintended changes. The app only supports aperture-priority mode. Im using this with a Canon QL17 GIII (meter inoperative) and Yashica 635. In practice, it works quickly and easily. I have not experienced any crashes with the iPhone 4s. Ive tried two other meter apps both of which were as accurate in reflected metering mode. I kept this one because of its intuitive and beautiful design.

Does not work with iPod Touch 4G.

Looks like this is an issue with the iPod Touch 4G. Crashes a few seconds after booting. Doesnt even make it past the boot screen. Running iOS 5.0.1 (9A405). Hopefully an update soon will fix it. Hate paying for apps that dont work.

Almost perfect

I really like this app and have gotten good results shooting with my Hasselblad 500C/M. I only have two suggestions that keep me from giving it five stars. First, have an option to make the viewing window a little larger. It is tough to see exactly what you are aiming at. Second, the ability for the meter to read in EV would be nice. The app looks and functions great though.

New update useless

App requires IOS5 which is not bad. But this requirement stops the automatic update of other apps if IOS5 not present. This is a real pain.

Not working

Does not work with iPod version 4 despite the update.

Its pretty...

At the sacrifice of functionality. The viewing screen is the size of my pinky thumbnail. Additionally the image inside that useless tiny screen is jerky on an iPhone 4. At this point Im not sure why youve even bothered to include a preview screen at all, why not scrap it and give yourselves an extra few millimeters for retro eye candy?

Well worth it

Deff worth the money. Have been using this with my Nikon D90 and my Yashica Mat 124G. Works great. I manly us fuji velvia iso50 slide film and have had great results. Only occasionally does it overexpose but even then it by only 1/2 stop or less. There are two cons I would like to mention. 1: the picture view window could be a bit bigger. Maybe in an up date you could click the window and go full screen, capture and image and the return to meter to run the settings and calculations. 2: I love the old school feel. But the shutter speed window can be a bit hard to read sometimes. Only occasionally. Would be neat to see a window on the right of the meter that displays the exact shutter speed being interpolated. Just so its a bit more accurate. For this I would love to give 4.5 stares. But will settle for 4. If these changes where made I would easily give it 5 or 6:) Nate

Fantastic

It works very well, but unfortunately there is no shutter priority. Otherwise, fantastic.

love it, cant wait to be using it,

Yet can not give a 5 stars, functionality could be better, my old analog light meter is slightly easier to dial in, and id have hoped with digital that itd be easier to tell what settings you are actually at vs the dot marker system. being able to figure out what ISO you want to use would be wonderful, since i mostly shoot in low light situations. but i highly recommend this app to every photographer with an iphone, and hope that updates only make it easier to use and more awesome.

Not so good

App crashes....it wont stay open long enough to try it.

Cool app

Nice design and functionality! Nice graphics! BUT... for the little "window" that lets you see what you are metering, it needs to be bigger, or allow you to go into a mode where it is bigger. I can hardly see what I am metering. Needs to have features like other metering apps do - taking pictures of what you are metering with the values printed on it so you can compare to the actual photos you take with your film camera.

A must have

Ive been looking for the perfect light meter for quite some time now. After 5 rolls with my Rolleiflex 3,5 correctly exposed, this just might be it. Sure, the viewing window is a bit too small, but I can forgive that given that I dont need to carry around any extra equipment.

shutter speed limited

Shutter tops out at about 0.5s at f2.5 iso100 (try covering the camera with ur hand) Also the UI is quite difficult to read.

Beautiful and brilliant!
